Historic Records Limited is a British-based company providing digitisation services, transcription for handwritten or printed text, and licensing of digitised content. We also offer access to hundreds of our own archival collections under licence. Our team has more than 30 years' experience of working with archives, museums and the private sector to bring their historic records to life.

In essence, we take your original documents and create digital images. This can be undertaken either at your premises or at our Chelmsford studio. If required, we can also provide full or partial transcriptions so that those same digital images can be published and searched online. To date, we have transcribed and licensed over 100 million records from numerous archives around the world.

Our mission is straightforward and clear: to help organisations make their archival content as accessible as possible. We are a private company, yes, but that company is founded on a guiding and fundamental principle that archives are vitally important and valuable.
